STRATFORD — Employees at a local discount retailer were busy this morning putting out Christmas decorations for Christmas 2023.
“We need to stay ahead of the competition,” says manager Anthony Boyd. “If a customer comes in here looking for wrapping paper for next Christmas, we don’t want them to leave empty-handed or go to another store.”
“In the retail business, if you’re not early, you’re late,” added Boyd. “And while you’re here picking up decorations for Christmas that is 13 months in the future, you can also pick up your ‘Happy 2024,’ ‘Happy 2025,’ and even ‘Happy 2026’ signs for New Years!”
Two rows over, it was unclear if the display of St. Valentine’s Day decorations were already out, or still out.
