CHARLOTTETOWN — A major award was presented to the Confederation Court Mall today. The mall received a glorious review of their escalator, and was named best escalator in Charlottetown by Escalator Monthly Magazine.
Escalator Monthly Magazine — one of the top five publications that focus solely on moving stairs in Atlantic Canada — described the escalator system installed in the Confederation Court Mall as “a seamless transition from faux-modernist basement to a post-industrial brutalist food court.”

“Well worth the drive to downtown Charlottetown,” gushed the 8,000 word review. “The escalating system combines the simple joy of going up a flight of stairs with the convenience of not having to move your feet for several seconds.”
“The stair movement was sublime, and the view was divine,” raved the article.
The system is well maintained by Fred Campbell, chief of maintenance for the downtown mall, who was humble when reached for comment.
“Yeah, I guess it’s a big deal,” said Campbell. “Won’t change much though. Still works pretty good all things considered.”
