CHARLOTTETOWN – The announcement of several big-name music acts for upcoming music festivals in Cavendish has left at least one Island rock fan disappointed.
Self-described “rock-megafan” Andrew McGregor can’t believe that area promoters didn’t try to book big-name bands.
“I like all kinds of music – from AC/DC to ZZ Top,” said McGregor. “I just can’t understand why they aren’t getting big names in Cavendish.”
“I’d go see them if I got cheap tickets”

“I mean, who wouldn’t want to see AC/DC [fronted by 76-year-old lead singer Angus Young], or Led Zeppelin [who have not toured North America since 1977], or someone like that in Cavendish? Or even U2 [who have sold out 17 consecutive concerts at the state-of-the-art Sphere in Las Vegas]? The lead singer is full of himself, but I’d go see them if I got cheap tickets,” added McGregor.
“I just don’t understand how these established, big-name, A-list talents who are guaranteed to draw a crowd wouldn’t want to come to a small resort municipality on PEI to play a festival that is in its second year. And I especially don’t understand how these promoters aren’t booking the Rolling Stones or Guns ‘n’ Roses!”
When pressed for further comments, McGregor refused, saying he had to get to his cover band’s practice session.
