Local teen agrees to wear hat

CHARLOTTETOWN — Citing the bitter cold, a blustery wind, and the fact that none of his peers will see him, local teen Greg MacLean, 13, agreed to wear a hat when going outside to take out the compost.

“I don’t like messing up my hair,” says MacEwan. “It’s not that cold out anyway.”

His parents, however, had a different opinion.

Mark and Janice MacEwan, Greg’s parents, supported their son’s decision, yet questioned the amount of time it took to come to this conclusion.

“I told him to wear a hat because it was cold, but he just shrugged,” said Mark. “There’s a windchill!”

“He wouldn’t wear a hat at the rink in case some of his friends saw him. I get that. But when it’s 40 below outside, and no one will see him while he’s going to the curb to dump compost for 30 seconds — just wear a hat,” added Janice.

After returning from outside, Greg returned to his room to google “what is frostbite” and “how to cure frostbite fast now” on his iPhone.
