CAVENDISH — Reports circulated today of a man wearing a dyed-orange dirt shirt despite knowing it is one of the most blatant signs of being a tourist.
The shirts — normally a white t-shirt that has been dyed with Island-red clay and sold at literally every souvenir store — have been a way for tourists to recognize each other when walking around Charlottetown, as no true Islander would dare wear one. That is, until today.
“I dunno, I just thought it would be funny,” said the man, who refused to give his name due to fear of repercussions from family and friends. “I seen them all the time on people, and I thought I might as well get in on the trend.”
“Besides, it’s awesome when someone comes up to me and asks where I’m from, because they assume I’m from away. When I say I’m from Sherwood, I can see they’re confused,” adds the fashion-oblivious man.
At press time, the man also mentioned that he was thinking about adding one of those Anne hats with red braids to his ensemble and walking around town with a City of Charlottetown map.
