CHARLOTTETOWN — An expert in Human Resources and People Development has established a fool-proof plan for hockey teams to win more games: they need to visualize, plan, and achieve more goals than the opposing team.
Achieving goals is the most important part of any venture.
Jim Milligan, People’s Potential Group
This plan was developed by members of the People’s Potential Group, a Human Resources consulting firm based in Charlottetown. As spokesperson Jim Milligan explains, “Setting and achieving goals will lead to great success in any venture.”
“We recommend using the SMART method – goals must be Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Repeatable, and Timely. For example, if the desired outcome is to have someone achieve as many goals as possible, it helps to be very specific as to which is the most time-sensitive, and has the greatest effect on overall results.”
When it comes to measuring results, Milligan states that it is crucial for hockey teams to produce Development Action Plans and Documents of Conversation to continue with this goal-setting process.
If all else fails, adds Milligan, “A swift punch in the mouth helps too.”
