Gas stations now accepting gold doubloons, property deeds, houses as payment

SUMMERSIDE — Due to a dramatic increase in fuel prices, gas stations across the Island have announced that they will gladly accept deeds to houses as payment for gasoline.

Citing consumer demand for more flexible payment options, the Gas Station Owners Association has announced that effective March 4th that any customer who wishes to can pay for a litre of gas in exchange for the rights to one acre of land.

If a customer wishes, they can also exchange their home for a full tank of fuel.

“[The change will] allow customers to pay for their gas using whatever heirlooms or personal property of value that they have.”

Monty Parker, totally cool business guy

In addition, several gas stations will allow customers to pay using gold doubloons at an exchange rate established by pirates in the late 1700s.

“The goal is to allow customers the ability to pay for their gas using whatever heirlooms or personal property of value that they have,” explains gas station spokesperson Monty Parker. “We hope that we’ll be able to accept engagement rings, iPhones, and big screen TVs by the end of week.”

“But not hockey cards,” says Parker. “Those things are worthless.”

As for the future of gas station payments, Parker remained vague, saying only that if prices continue to rise, they would consider accepting blood, or even naming rights to children.
