CHARLOTTETOWN — A new promotion run by local restaurants has a lot of people excited.
A group of restaurateurs have challenged themselves to use their creative skills to create burgers well beyond ordinary.
To be included in this friendly competition, each new item on the menu must weigh at least 5 lbs after cooking, contain 15 unique ingredients aside from beef, and be completely inedible.
Local beefaholic Jim Koughan, a veteran eater, can’t wait to try some of the unnecessary creations.
“I’m especially looking forward to a burger that has fried radishes, chocolate sauce, and clams. And there’s another one that has broccoli wrapped with bacon on top.”
“Burgers! Beef burgers!” screamed Koughan. “I need burgers!”
Some of the more extreme entries include a pizza purportedly including an entire roasted chicken covered in molasses, and a steak with melted licorice sauce drizzled over scrambled eggs.
The contest is set to run for two weeks, or until one item is sold.
