Ancient scrolls reveal Charlottetown was once home to several competing Zellers

CHARLOTTETOWN — Researchers at the University of Prince Edward Island revealed a translation of ancient relics that describe multiple instances of something called Zellers in the Charlottetown area.

“These scrolls give information about a mercantile culture that we are calling Zellers,” says Dr. Charles Campbell, lead researcher and chair of the Recent History department.

“The script used in these scrolls — Arial, with sections of Calibiri — shows that this was a mature, developed culture. As well, the crude images show diversity that is unexpected in Charlottetown. Amazing how society was so advanced 25 years ago.”

Of the five scrolls found, three have been translated so far. The remaining two reference a cult surrounding Zeddy, who may have been a significant cultural hero or deity worshipped by these people.

In addition, all scrolls mention a powerful yet  secretive Club Z that would enchant followers with rewards for loyalty.

Although much research still needs to be done, Dr. Campbell is confident that further questions will be answered, such as the location and territory of each Zellers, and whether or not they had peaceful interactions with other ancient cultures like Towers and Eatons.
