A small group of idiots think this is a good idea
ALBERTON — Could Alberton, a small community of roughly 1,000 people in western Prince County, be home to a new NFL expansion team?
No, of course not.
But that won’t stop a group of entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, and various other ne’er-do-wells from wasting their time trying. The group named “Bring An NFL Team to Alberton Please” — or BANFLTAP, as they prefer to be known — is not shy about their lofty ambitions.
“[B]ringing a multi-billion dollar franchise to a tiny town with no identifiable infrastructure, urban area, population base, or market is definitely not a crazy idea.”
Kris Templeman, BANFLTAP spokesperson
A spokesperson, Kris Templeman, says that their group has the backing of several investors and their parents, and plans to use a big open field as a professional football stadium.
“I fully believe that BANFLTAP can bring an NFL team to Alberton. Think of the tourist draw that a professional football team would be!” says Templeman.
Literally — absolutely 100% — every other single person that we spoke to regarding this comment was met with at best ridicule, and at worst a lengthy stream of expletives.
“I know a lot of people think this is some sort of sham or just for show,” explains Templeman, “but bringing a multi-billion dollar franchise to a tiny town with no identifiable infrastructure, urban area, population base, or market is definitely not a crazy idea.”
Before Templeman abruptly ended the interview, they did mention that they are selling shares in this venture, and have applied for government funding.
