Alcohol-themed bar hopes to succeed in Charlottetown

CHARLOTTETOWN — In a crowded marketplace, where every entrepreneur needs a hook, Charlottetown resident Jake Gaudet thinks he has a sure-fire way to be successful with his new idea.

“People like drinking [alcohol, presumably]. And they like going out. So, I figured, why not combine the two and have an alcohol-themed bar?” says Gaudet.

The Drinking Place, soon to open in downtown Charlottetown, will allow patrons to consume alcohol in a mature, controlled setting, while surrounded by alcohol-themed paraphernalia and decor.

“Of course we’re going to have a picture of Winston Churchill holding a beer,” explains Gaudet. “But that won’t be the only thing. We’re planning on adding neon-lighted beer signs, and logos of other alcohol products as well.”

Although not yet open, Gaudet has grand plans for expansion. “I don’t want to get ahead of myself — I want this place to succeed, but I also want to see if the market could support a second place to drink an alcohol.”

“Fingers crossed!” adds Gaudet.

At the time of this publication, there were approximately 50 people lined up outside the tentative location of this pub, despite no definite opening date.
